Users’ Manual (D5.5)

This deliverable is part of Task T5.4: “User interface, visualisation and mobile clients”. The main objectives of this task are:

• The design and development of the PHAROS platform user interface
• Design and implement of the mobile’s client user interface

Within this context, the objective of this deliverable is to provide a guide explaining to the users how to utilise the PHAROS system by describing the various system features, where to find them and how to use them. It describes the multiple applications of the system: the web portal for disaster and risk management to be used by primary users (authorities), the web site for secondary users to access the available products of the system and the mobile application intended to be used, on one hand by first responders on the field and, on the other hand, by alerts’ recipients (citizens).

The main difficulty of producing the present deliverable has been to keep the document constantly updated as the system has been developed. Since the style of the user interface has been updated several times, according to end user feedback, a regular update of most of the figures has been necessary. The PHAROS system is a complex system composed of multiple applications with a numerous set of features. This guide endeavours to list all the features available via the PHAROS system and provide users with a guide to help them when using it.

This document has been used during the pilot demonstration to help the user understanding the system. A short version of the users’ manual has been generated in English and in Spanish to enable the users to find a description of the features in their own language.
