Pilot Demonstration on PHAROS Products and Services (D7.2)
This deliverable describes the pilot demonstration carried out within the PHAROS project. The main task involved in this deliverable is Task 7.2, whose main objectives are as follows:
- Define the burning plan for the pilot demonstration, in terms of number of plots, size of the plot to be burned, type of fire, duration of fire, planned ignition, meteorological and fire behaviour window, safety issues, data collection sites, data reception sites, objectives, constraints, resources and logistical needs for the ignition and control group.
- Design the pilot, based on objectives, constraints, resources and logistical needs from the technological point of view, ignition and control group, evaluation process, communication process.
- Solve logistics for the pilot.
- Prepare, realise and interface the FireWatch system components to the PHAROS pilot system.
- Deploy all components of the PHAROS system for the pilot demonstration.
- Implement the pilot demonstration. An ignition burning in a large contained area will be monitored through PHAROS and the corresponding response actions in within the exercise will be managed using PHAROS as well.
This deliverable includes the design and preparation of the pilot demonstration, which has been designed in two parts or phases:
- PHASE 1, has focused on the validation of the PHAROS system with the main purpose of gathering feedback from end-users. This phase took place in Solsona (Spain) between the 2nd and the 4th of March 2016.
- PHASE 2, also included a PHAROS system validation and dissemination event. This phase takes place in Oberpfaffenhofen (Germany) on the 12th of May 2016.
The deliverable gathers all the considerations taken into account to find the most suitable places for the deployment of the Pilot demonstration, the preparatory work done to successfully execute the demonstration and documents also the deployment of the demonstration PHASE 1.
The outcomes of the PHAROS pilot demonstration PHASE 1 have been processed and analysed in Task 7.3 – User evaluation and will be publicly presented during the PHAROS pilot demonstration PHASE 2. The outcomes of Task 7.3 are reported in in deliverable D7.3.
