My name is Antonio Vieira and I am a geographer. I hold a PhD in Geography (2009), from the University of Coimbra, with the thesis "Montemuro mountains. Geomorphological dynamics, landscape evolution and natural heritage."
I am an assistant professor at the Department of Geography, University of Minho, developing research activities as an integrated member of the Center for Studies of Geography and Spatial Planning (CEGOT - UM/UC/UP).
I am a member of several scientific organizations, including the Portuguese Association of Geomorphologists (APGeom), the Risk - Portuguese Association of Risk, Prevention and Security. I am also a member of FUEGORED (Red Temática Nacional Efectos de los Incendios Forestales sobre los Suelos) and collaborator of GRAM (Grup de Recerca Ambiental Mediterrània).
During my career I have developed research in granitic geomorphology, geomorphological heritage and changes in land use, addressing me today on issues related to soil erosion following forest fires and mitigation measures, geographic information systems and remote sensing and its application to forest fires, land use, glacial and periglaciar geomorphology, among others.
