Bio:
Msc. Schuck is Senior Researcher in the Resilience Programme at EFI. He has more than 20 years of experience in research and information services provision relating to forest resources, forest risk management caused by natural disturbances and forest biodiversity. He is well aware of the policy context in which these topics are embedded and the role of research in supporting informed policy formulation. He has coordinated and taken part than 20 EU and national funded projects (e.g. FRISK-GO - Feasibility Study for Establishing a European Forest Risk Facility; FIREPARADOX, EC studies on ‘Means of combating forest dieback’ and ‘Windstorms’; EFIS and NEFIS (information systems projects); INTEGRATE+ (integrative forest management); IN-TREE (introduced species); COOL) and has coordinated a book publication on ‘Living With Storm Damages To Forests’ He has collaborated with University of Wageningen in setting up the ‘Database on Forest Disturbances in Europe’, has been instrumental in building the ‘European Forest Map of Europe (EC-project) and lead working groups in COST Actions. He has acted several times (and will continue to do so) as lead author for the State of Europe's Report (FOREST EUROPE), elaborating the indicators for the Criteria ‘Biodiversity’ and ‘Protective Forest’. Currently he works as senior researcher in the SURE and INFORMAR projects with strong emphasis on science - practice interaction.
