WUIWATCH White Book - Fire prevention and defense in the WUI

UIWATCH project aims at the interchange and capitalization of knowledge and experience in the prevention, risk mapping, emergency management and operations in wildfires affecting communities in Europe. To achieve this, WUIWATCH project envisages the development of a knowledge base (KELLY), the design and development of a permanent forum, the development of risk assessment tools and the edition of a white book on good practices on prevention and operations. A component in the knowledge sharing and discussion is the celebration of several international thematic workshops. Three have been hold already in different European countries: the first took place in Italy, and was focusing on prevention and risk mapping; the second in Portugal, on the subject of houses vulnerability and protection; a third one was celebrated in France, focusing on human
factor. As part of this workshop program, a fourth one has been held in Cheste, near the city of Valencia (Spain), on 12th and 13th of December. These workshops have as main objective to serve as a meeting point and a discussion table, gathering specialist all across Europe in order to interchange experiences and lessons learnt, more particularly in the host country, on specific subjects.
