Webinar: Managing Uncertainty in WUI Fire Emergencies
The response to wildfires that affect WUI, and the emergencies that it creates, involves the management of large amounts of information (fire potential, changing fire behavior, population in risk, resources, etc.) in a rapidly changing environment that may overwhelm emergency responders.
This often creates a situation of 'infotoxication' that slows down and sometimes hinders the decision making process by saturation. This situation forces the responders to manage uncertain generated by the 'infotoxication' of fire services and responders, and in turn, increases the vulnerability of the overall situation (responders and population), limiting significantly the decision capacity.
Presented by Marc Castellnou (Pau Costa Foundation).
