By Pau Costa Foundation on

In May 2016 a workshop celebrated in Valabre, France, was dedicated to the exploration and
debate on human factor and safety in wildfires affecting WUI areas. The event took place in
parallel with another workshop of IGNIS project, that entailed an enrichment of both meetings
of such synergic interaction. Attendants of CTIF also provided new perspectives on the subject.
More than 30 attendees from several European countries had the opportunity of learning
about WUIWATCH and contribute with their experience. The workshop ended with a battery of
demonstrations on safety and fire fighter equipment endurance when facing a radiative source
of heat, such as those found in WUI fires. Also a visit and a demonstration to the CESIR virtual
training centre, in which participants took the opportunity of learning about one of the most
advanced instruction centres in Europe on forest fires.
