The Provincial Administration of Barcelona has among ist competences and goals the technical and economic support of the 311 municipalities of the province. It provides municipalites, forest owners associations,  fire-fighter volunteers, etc of instruments, plans, financial aid in tehe following fields : forest management, fire prevention, forest road construction and maintenance, water- reservoir construction, etc.

ABSTRACT: Brief description our our main activities, including forest fire prevention plans at a municipal level; surveillance and information; inter-face challenges.
A summary of activities, the strategic goals of the next years and possible research corner-stones will be exposed and discussed. Examples are:

• Index to analyze optimal density of forest roads (prevention network).
• Index to analyze optimal density of water reservoirs for land vehicles.
• Heat transmission and characterization of forest roads
• Instruments to analyze social impact of sensibilization programmes during the summer season.
• New technologies in geolocations of prevention vehicles
• New tools of sensibilization / environmental education in primary and secondary education levels; the role of local governments.
