Forest Fires in Europe - 2007

Although this year's (2008) fire season is not yet over, it looks as though Europe has escaped relatively unscathed. But we still bear the scars of the devastation and loss of life brought by the
events of last and previous summer periods, in particular in the Mediterranean region. We should seriously ask ourselves what is going wrong after decades of investigation in fire causes, after having put so many efforts in fire prevention and fighting, at local, regional, national and Community level. Something is apparently going wrong and we need to investigate in the reasons for that rather than spending efforts in un-coordinated actions realised here and there.
