Forest Fires in Europe - 2004

The European Commission published its first “Forest Fires in Europe” EFFIS report five years ago, giving the first comprehensive picture of the forest fire situation in Europe. Since then, there have been some dramatic forest fires, particularly in Southern Europe. They have caused serious damage to our natural environment and many casualties among forest fire fighters and civilians.
